Stages

By defining stages we mean:

  1. Choose competition type or gallery mode (in gallery mode users can "like" entries via Facebook, etc., but voting and choosing winner is unavailable). Competition type affects the winners choice, reliability and even stats. Read beneath about competition types or check our guide through possible options.
  2. Define timeline: when stage starts and ends. Stages can go one after another, overlap, go simultaneously (upload and voting) or with short brakes between stages (i.e. reserve some time before winners announcement).
  3. Define categories if you need more then one category.
In contest on upload participants will get radio buttons to choose one category for each entry (in photo competition users can upload up to 7 photos upon a time if not limited). If there are more than 10 categories, then a select list with categories is displayed instead of radio buttons.
  4. Define Entry limit for each category, leave empty for unlimited, 0 to (temporarily) close submission for given category.
  5. Define number of finalist/winners/runner-ups if applicable.
  6. Define Entry limit per contest or leave empty if you don't need one, limits in categories will still apply.
  7. Voting options: jury rating or public voting. You can also take into account number of social interactions: likes, shares, comments, but please note that according to Facebook policy, they should not be treated as votes and should not be the basis of winners choosing.
  8. Also some stage depending links and headers like gallery title, links in menu, status of the competition.

FAQ - stages

  1. Why I can see difference between number of Likes on the website and number of likes in CMS?

Our system is counting only likes and other social interactions made on contest site (for example "likes" added via FB like button placed next to the entry). Its number you can see in the admin panel.

Number of social interactions in the admin pane may differ from what is shown  on the website because Facebook adds other stuff like:

    • The number of likes of this URL
    • The number of shares of this URL (this includes copy/pasting a link back to Facebook)
    • The number of likes and comments on stories on Facebook about this URL
    • The number of inbox messages containing this URL as an attachment.

We have no influence on it.

  2. How can I add more categories?

In Stages > Submission Round add category name, number of winners and runner-ups then SAVE. After saving you can add another category and so on.
